About The Role
Systemex Automation is looking for an Electrical Designer with strong safety expertise to design and validate electrical systems that meet safety, regulatory, and technical requirements while protecting users, equipment, and facilities throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design industrial electrical schematics and develop electrical architectures for automated systems using EPLAN.
- Select and integrate electrical equipment, including PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.), VFDs, servo and industrial motors, transformers, and power distribution systems.
- Size electrical components, including protection devices, wiring, power supplies, and related equipment.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with safety standards, risk-reduction principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the development of internal electrical standards and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with mechanical, programming, and commissioning teams throughout project development.
- Provide technical support in the workshop and occasionally at customer sites.
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining technical quality, accuracy, and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 7-10 years of experience designing automated systems.
- OIQ membership
- Excellent proficiency with EPLAN and strong knowledge of industrial electrical design, including PLCs, industrial architectures, VFDs, servo drives, industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, etc.), and power distribution.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards, with familiarity with risk reduction and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Strong teamwork, organization, and technical rigor, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with industrial robotics, control panel design, and CSA/UL/IEC standards is an asset.
- Proficiency in French is mandatory. Proficiency in English is also required in order to communicate effectively with internal clients and partners located outside of Quebec.
