As an Electrical Product Engineer, you will work collaboratively within New Model electrical systems development, testing, and harness development groups. You will be responsible for leading problem investigation and resolution activities including cause analysis, root cause identification, countermeasure development, and final testing. You will be responsible for recommending design changes, product improvements, and investigating any in-house and warranty concerns as they arise.
To be considered for the role you must have an excellent foundation of electrical systems through education and hands-on experience, as well as experience working within a collaborative, cross-functional team.
The Pay: $84,607.00 to $97,965.00 annually
Responsibilities:
- Recent Model design and design change confirmation
- Lead New Model and Mass Production complex design investigations
- Market warranty claim analysis, containment, and countermeasure activities
- Testing and creating test methods for advanced vehicle electrical systems
- Act as a liaison between HCM, R&D; and Service.
- Compile data, analyze trends, and interpret vehicle problem data to drive countermeasure activity
- Preparation and presentation of technical / testing documents
Requirements:
- Completed post-secondary technical degree and/or diploma or minimum of 3 years’ equivalent related work experience
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel; Use advanced functions (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), manage and format data
- Experience developing, integrating, or validating software for automotive systems and vehicle-level functions
Job Related Must Haves:
- Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally on short notice
- Willing and able to work overtime on short notice, including scheduled shutdowns
- Willing and able to work flexible shift rotation
- Valid ‘G’ driver’s license
- Support Genba activity when required
- Willing and able to support other PE categories
- Willing to complete yard sweeps and production support
Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical problems utilizing tools such as a digital multimeter, oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects / assignments requiring identification of objectives, resources and/or approaches.
- Demonstrated experience with CAD software’s for electrical design, interpretation, and/or analysis (e.g. Catia, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Control Tools including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Hands on experience troubleshooting automotive mechanical, electrical (including high voltage), heating / cooling systems including the use of related hand tools
- Demonstrated ability with vehicle communication monitoring systems
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders and all levels of management
- Demonstrated previous experience preparing and delivering technical presentations and reports.
- Demonstrated experience in testing automotive electrical systems/ components using robots, PLC/ Micro-controller, Line End Tester (LET), etc.

Additionally, HCM provides weekly, monthly, and annual attendance bonuses, equaling a potential additional $1.40 per hour; a Team Achievement Bonus paid two times per year; an industry leading Defined Contribution (DC) pension that includes company contributions and company matching; and a comprehensive benefit plan that provides choice and flexibility with the cost subsidized by company contributions. HCM also provides shift premiums of 5% for afternoon shift, and 10% for the overnight shift.
