The Vancouver office of Smith + Andersen is currently seeking an Electrical Project Manager . You have clear communication skills, and can effectively wield those skills to make sure clients, consultants, and contractors are kept in the loop. You can easily manage multiple tasks without getting frazzled, and are eager to take on some of the biggest and most exciting projects in the country. Review and manages the design in terms of construction budgets. Perform or arrange reviews of existing installations and interpret/manage the impact on the project. May assign tasks to designers and CAD Technicians where appropriate.
Understand
Codes and Standards relevant for the project and communicates all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and authorities having jurisdiction.
Ensure proper coordination of documents with internal and external project team (architect, interior designer, and other disciplines). Understand (construction) project procurement methodologies and recommend or apply such method for the project.
Review all deliverables for the project including reports, calculations, drawings, or/and specifications to ensure completeness and accuracy at various stages of development and as defined by internal total quality management. Promote and enforce company standards relating to project administration, documentation and processes such as total quality management. Where requested by the Principal-in-charge or Associate Principal, act as a contract administrator for designated projects to ensure timely completion of all contract administration activities for project.
Ensure that shop drawing review process takes place within project timelines. Coordinate with the contract administration team regarding drawing reviews, proper set up of contract administration process and site activities. Prepare all change notices or reviews change notices issued by contract administration team.
Respond to both technical and financial queries related to the project. Keep the Principal-in-charge or Associate Principal advised of all changes in scope of work and prepares amendments to the contract (e.g. Support the process of accounts receivable.
Ensure the internal project team coordination processes by discipline are complete. Prepare and actively monitor a schedule of tasks required to complete the project including hours to perform tasks and critical data required for performance.
Liaise with external consultants and vendors to ensure smooth project delivery.
Five or more years of project engineering experience in the field of electrical building services. A senior C.Solid leadership qualities and ability to work independently. Ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
Demonstrated experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projects. Knowledgeable about the provincial building code, electrical code, CSA, ULC, IEEE, IES and NFPA standards. Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, methods and standards.
A LEED Accredited Professional designation, with Experience implementing sustainable design is an asset.
