About the Role
GTA Staffing is recruiting an Electrical Wiring Technician on behalf of our client, a Mississauga-based manufacturer of advanced medium voltage switchgear, electrical enclosures, and control systems. As a licensed Schneider Electric Canada partner operating out of a brand new $20M facility, our client builds some of the most technically demanding electrical products deployed across data centers, mining operations, healthcare facilities, and industrial construction projects in North America.
This is a skilled, detail-critical role that sits at the core of the production process. The Electrical Wiring Technician is responsible for wiring and connecting the internal electrical components of panels, switchgear cabinets, and control equipment to precise engineering specifications. The work demands a thorough understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, strong hand skills, and an unwavering commitment to accuracy, safety, and quality on every unit built.
Key Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and work directly from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line drawings, and technical work orders throughout the assembly and wiring process
- Wire electrical panels, switchgear cabinets, control enclosures, and related equipment in accordance with engineering specifications and applicable electrical standards
- Install and connect wires, cables, terminals, lugs, relays, contactors, circuit breakers, fuses, and other electrical components per the wiring diagram and bill of materials
- Measure, cut, strip, crimp, label, route, and secure wires and cable assemblies neatly and to specification, maintaining organized and traceable wiring throughout each enclosure
- Install wire ducts, cable ties, grommets, and cable management hardware to achieve a clean,
serviceable finished product
- Verify all connections, torque values, terminal assignments, and labelling against engineering documentation before sign-off
- Identify and immediately report any missing, damaged, incorrect, or non-conforming materials, components, or wiring conditions to the supervisor or quality team
- Perform continuity checks, point-to-point verification, and basic functional checks on completed wiring as directed
- Work closely with mechanical assemblers, engineers, and quality assurance staff to ensure wiring integrates correctly with the completed enclosure structure
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation in full compliance with all site safety protocols and WHMIS requirements where applicable
- Support continuous improvement by flagging recurring wiring issues, documentation discrepancies, or component quality concerns
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of electrical wiring or panel building experience in a manufacturing, electrical enclosure, or switchgear environment
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line drawings, and component layouts accurately
- Hands-on proficiency with wiring tools including wire strippers, crimpers, torque screwdrivers, cable cutters, heat guns, and labelling equipment
- Experience measuring, cutting, stripping, crimping, routing,
and securing wires and cable assemblies to tight specifications
- Solid working knowledge of electrical components including terminals, relays, contactors, breakers, fuses, and control wiring devices
- Strong attention to detail with zero tolerance for wiring errors, missed connections, or unlabelled conductors
- Comfortable working within a structured production environment with engineering documentation and quality sign-off requirements
- Physically capable of performing precise, hands-on work at a bench or inside enclosures throughout a full shift
- Steel-toed safety boots and applicable PPE required
Assets — Will Be Given Priority
- Previous experience wiring medium voltage switchgear, MV panels, or IEC-standard electrical enclosures
- Familiarity with Schneider Electric components, product standards, or switchgear systems
- Knowledge of IEC, UL, or CSA wiring standards and labelling conventions
- Experience with point-to-point continuity testing and basic functional verification of wired assemblies
- WHMIS certification
- 309A or 442A electrician licence or apprenticeship is a strong asset but not required for this role
