Basic Employee Responsibilities
Every Q2 ALS employee is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner.
*This position is based in person at our Red Deer Location- 7883 Edgar Industrial Way.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Leading by example by following established Quality, Health and Safety policies & procedures.
- Showing respect and pride for facilities and equipment.
- Being responsible – on time for work and taking breaks during designated times.
- Carrying out other tasks from time to time as assigned by a supervisor or request for assistance as needed.
Position Specific Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Engineering team in drafting, designing and failure analysis.
- Preparing metallurgical samples and utilizing sophisticated laboratory apparatus ie. XRF, microhardness testers, molding creator and stereomicroscopes.
- Create and develop 3D models and drawings using Inventor or similar 3D modeling software.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, insights, and actionable outcomes.
- Work on current product deliverables and operational deliverables.
- Perform any other duties as assigned to ensure project goals and tasks are completed within established deadlines.
- Research and implement conceptual designs, optimized material and procedures.
- Preparing 3D samples for laboratory flow run testing.
- Strong communications skills is an asset.
- Program chemical inhibitors for specialty tools.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or technology diploma in Engineering or a related field
- Certified by APEAGA or ASET
- Strong knowledge of design principles and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
- Power BI experience is an asset.
- Experience with materials selection, metallurgy, and failure analysis
- Able to work in a small team in a fast paced environment
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
Physical Demands
- Primarily office-based with lab exposure
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer
- Occasional lifting and interaction with components or equipment
- Use of handheld measuring tools and small metal components (Caliper, micrometer, height gages, etc.)
