Job title: Electronics Hardware Design Engineer .
Location: Saanichton, British Columbia, V8M 2A5
Contract: 6 months with potential to extend
Electronics Hardware Design Engineer .
5-8 Years Experience. Able to manage a team.
You will be responsible for the full hardware development lifecycle from conceptual design and schematic capture to PCB layout , prototyping , and rigorous hardware validation .
You will develop robust analog, digital , and power circuitry for our industry-leading control and distribution products.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Design: Architect and design electronic circuits (analog, digital, and low-power) for building automation, power distribution, or industrial control systems.
- PCB Layout & Documentation: Develop schematics, layout printed circuit boards (PCBs), and generate BOMs using industry-standard E-CAD tools (e.g., Cadence).
- Testing & Validation: Plan and execute lab validation. Perform prototype bring-up, bench debugging, and functional/parametric testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and data loggers.
- Compliance & Reliability: Ensure hardware designs meet industry regulatory standards (EMC/EMI,
safety compliance, UL/IEC).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers to define product architectures and transition products into mass production.
- Root Cause Analysis: Perform systematic debugging and root cause analysis for any hardware or component issues during the development or lifecycle phases.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor s or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related IT technical field.
- Experience: 3+ years of qualified experience in electronic hardware design, development, and testing.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB layout (Cadence/OrCAD/Allegro).
- Testing Skills: Strong troubleshooting capabilities using standard lab test equipment.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with microcontrollers, sensor integration, power electronics, and Design for Manufacturing/Testability (DFM/DFT) is highly advantageous.
