McSheffrey Resource Centre is seeking a Part time English Tutor to support newcomers as they build their English language skills. This position involves providing one-on-one tutoring and literacy support to newcomer clients with varying levels of English proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct reading and literacy assessments to identify client strengths and learning needs.
- Develop and deliver individualized English language tutoring sessions.
- Support clients in improving reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills.
- Assist clients in achieving personal, educational, and employment-related language goals.
- Create a welcoming, respectful, and culturally inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure clients receive appropriate support and referrals when needed.

Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Education, English, Adult Learning, TESL/TESOL,or a related field.
- Experience teaching, tutoring, or supporting English language learners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.




- Ability to work independently and adapt teaching methods to individual learning styles.
- Experience working with newcomers, immigrants, refugees, or diverse populations is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of adult education principles and literacy assessment tools is an asset.
- Asset: Familiarity with English proficiency assessments, such as the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and Pearson Test of English (PTE).
