ROLE OVERVIEW
- The Equipment Maintenance Lead position is a hands-on role responsible for supporting daily farm operations while taking a leadership role in agricultural equipment servicing, maintenance, and repair coordination.
- This individual works alongside the broader farm team and reports to farm management, serving as the primary point of contact for ag equipment upkeep and shop supply management.
- The role requires mechanical aptitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate with external vendors and equipment dealers to ensure machinery is maintained and operational year-round.
- This position is critical in minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring Be-Ver Farms maintains a well-stocked, organized shop environment in support of seeding, harvest, and all other field operations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform general farm labour duties as required across all seasons, supporting field and yard operations.
- Oversee and coordinate all agricultural equipment repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose mechanical issues on ag equipment and determine repair requirements; perform repairs directly or coordinate with external service providers.
- Source and order parts for ag equipment; maintain accurate records of parts ordered, received, and used.
- Manage shop supply inventory, including tracking stock levels, placing replenishment orders, and organizing the shop environment.
- Coordinate equipment servicing schedules to align with operational demands during seeding and harvest seasons.
- Communicate equipment status and repair timelines to farm management and other team members.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized shop space in compliance with farm safety standards.
- Assist with other equipment-related tasks and general farm duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical or trade certification in agriculture mechanics, heavy equipment, or a related field is considered a strong asset.
Experience
- Prior experience in agricultural equipment repair, maintenance, or a related mechanical role is preferred.
- Experience working in a farm environment is considered a solid asset.
- Demonstrated ability to source parts and manage inventory.
Skills
- Practical mechanical knowledge of agricultural equipment (tractors, combines, tillage equipment, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in parts and inventory management.
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear communication skills to coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and farm management.
- Physically capable of performing manual labour tasks in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's licence required.

Shop supplies and parts inventory are consistently stocked and organized, with replenishment orders placed proactively and no critical shortages during peak operations.
Preventative Maintenance Adherence - 20%
Scheduled maintenance tasks are completed on time and documented, reducing the frequency of unexpected breakdowns.
Parts Sourcing Efficiency - 15%
Parts are sourced accurately and cost-effectively, with minimal delays due to incorrect orders or sourcing issues.
Shop Organization & Safety - 10%
The shop environment is maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition at all times, meeting farm safety standards.
