About the opportunity

Black Film Space Manitoba Inc. is seeking an organized, energetic and community-minded Event Coordinator Intern to support the planning and delivery of the Cool Sweepings Curling Bonspiel during the 2026/2027 curling season.

Cool Sweepings is a Black-led Canadian curling comedy soon to premiere on Bell Fibe TV1. The bonspiel brings together curling, entertainment, food and culture while introducing recent and diverse communities to the sport.

The successful candidate will help coordinate event logistics, sponsorship outreach, team registration, marketing and communication with curling clubs, community partners and volunteers.

Responsibilities

- Assist with planning and coordinating Cool Sweepings bonspiel events
- Research and contact prospective sponsors and community partners
- Help prepare sponsorship proposals, outreach emails and follow-up materials
- Maintain records of sponsor contacts, commitments and deliverables
- Coordinate team registration and communicate with participating teams
- Assist with schedules, event timelines, budgets and planning documents
- Communicate with curling clubs, venues, vendors and community organizations
- Help recruit, schedule and coordinate event volunteers
- Support advertising, social media promotion and community outreach
- Assist with setup, event-day operations and teardown
- Track registration, sponsorship and event information
- Prepare post-event summaries and sponsor-recognition reports
- Complete other event-related duties as required





Qualifications
- Currently studying or recently graduated from event management, business, marketing, communications, hospitality, sport management or a related program
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable contacting businesses and potential sponsors
- Able to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
- Experience with events, fundraising, sales, sponsorships or community programming is an asset
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and social media platforms
- Able to work independently and collaboratively
- Available for occasional evenings and weekends
- An interest in sports, entertainment, film, culture or community development is an asset
- Knowledge of curling is helpful but not required
