U+ Community is recruiting Event Setup &

- Venue Logistics Volunteers to support the York Region Volunteer Fair on September 20, 2026, at Thornhill Community Centre.

The York Region Volunteer Fair brings together students, community members, nonprofit organizations, and local organizations to connect individuals with meaningful volunteer opportunities and strengthen community engagement across York Region.

As an Event Setup &

- Venue Logistics Volunteer, you will work with the event team to help prepare, organize, and maintain the physical event environment. Volunteers will also take part in required training and pre-event preparation activities leading up to the fair.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with preparing the event venue before attendees arrive
- Help arrange tables, chairs, signage, event materials, and designated event areas
- Prepare registration, information, and general event stations as assigned
- Organize and distribute event supplies and materials
- Ensure event spaces are properly arranged and ready for use
- Assist event staff with logistical and operational needs
- Monitor assigned event areas and communicate operational concerns to event coordinators
- Help maintain clean, organized,



and accessible event spaces
- Assist with event teardown, material collection, and post-event cleanup
- Complete required orientation and training before the event

Volunteers will receive instructions and guidance from the event team and work collaboratively with other volunteers. Event Date: Sunday, September 20, 2026

Location: Thornhill Community Centre, 7755 Bayview Ave., Thornhill, Ontario No previous event or volunteer experience is required. Training and instructions will be provided. Ideal candidates will:

- Be reliable, punctual, and responsible
- Have robust organizational skills and attention to detail
- Work effectively as part of a team
- Be able to follow event plans, instructions, and assigned responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with staff and fellow volunteers
- Be willing to take initiative and assist as event needs change
- Demonstrate good time-management and problem-solving skills
- Be comfortable working in an active event environment
- Be available for required training, preparation activities, and the September 20 event An interest in event management, operations, logistics, project coordination, or community engagement is considered an asset.
