About the Organization

Tech Manitoba is the driving force behind Manitoba's technology community, bringing together startups, scale-ups, established technology companies, and tech-enabled organizations to accelerate innovation and growth. As the industry's leading voice, the association connects members with opportunities, advocates for the sector's priorities, and fosters collaboration across business, government, and post-secondary institutions. Through workforce development initiatives, industry programming, events, and strategic partnerships, Tech Manitoba plays a vital role in strengthening Manitoba's technology ecosystem and helping one of the province's fastest-growing sectors thrive.

About the Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for leading Tech Manitoba's strategy, operations, financial sustainability, stakeholder relationships, advocacy efforts, and team performance. This is a unique opportunity to lead the province's technology association at a pivotal moment, helping to strengthen and grow Manitoba's tech ecosystem while guiding a lean, purpose-driven organization through its next chapter. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable setting strategic direction and rolling up their sleeves to make it happen.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the execution of Tech Manitoba’s strategic plan across its three pillars: delivering an exceptional member experience, being the voice of Manitoba’s tech industry, and enabling technology adoption across the province.
- Lead workforce development, education, training, and upskilling programs that build Manitoba’s technology talent pipeline and deliver measurable outcomes.

- Strengthen member value and engagement by clearly articulating Tech Manitoba’s value proposition and deepening connections across the technology community.
- Build and sustain solid relationships with government, funders, post-secondary institutions, industry partners, Tech Manitoba members, and the broader tech ecosystem.
- Represent and advocate for Manitoba’s technology sector, using member insight, data, and thought leadership to inform priorities and influence policy.
- Oversee programs, events, and initiatives that support technology adoption, sector growth, and cross-industry collaboration across Manitoba.
- Hold full accountability for financial stewardship, including budgeting, cash-flow management, financial controls, and transparent Board reporting.
- Grow and diversify revenue through program funding, membership, sponsorship, events, etc.

Qualifications

- A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Progressive senior leadership experience, including full operational and financial accountability for an organization or a significant business unit.
- Experience in a member-based, association, not-for-profit, or other stakeholder-driven organization, or clearly transferable experience from an adjacent environment.
- A track record of building and stewarding relationships with funders, government, partners, and members.
- Experience delivering or overseeing workforce development, education, training, or upskilling programs.
- Experience and credibility with the technology sector, to represent the industry and engage its leaders.
- Experience working with a volunteer board of directors, and an understanding of sound non-profit governance, is preferred.
