Capital Family Services is looking for a Family Support Worker (FSW) to join our team and provide meaningful, hands-on support to individuals and families across New Brunswick.

This is a rewarding frontline position where no two days are exactly alike. You’ll build relationships, support life-skill development, supervise family visits, provide transportation, respond to challenging situations, and help clients build confidence, stability, and independence.

What You’ll DoClient Support & Supervision

- Provide direct support through supervised family visitations, in-home observations, and life-skills development.
- Deliver structured, research-based programs in safe, supportive environments.
- Help clients build practical skills, socialize, participate in activities, and develop greater independence.
- Use a strength-based, person-centred approach that recognizes each client’s unique abilities and needs.
- Adapt your approach to meet the changing needs of children, youth, adults, and families.
- Observe, monitor, and document client progress, behaviours, and responses to interventions.
- Provide support during crisis situations using appropriate de-escalation and intervention strategies.

Safety & Transportation
- Help create stability through structured interventions and consistent support.
- Safely transport clients to appointments, visits, programs, schools, homes, and other required locations.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to crisis situations.
- Recognize and immediately report concerns related to abuse, neglect, or client safety.

Documentation & Teamwork
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of client progress, incidents, behaviours, and observations.
- Provide first-hand observations and court testimony when required.




- Maintain professional, ethical, and confidential standards in all interactions.
- Participate in training and professional development to stay current with evidence-based practices and intervention strategies.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding client progress, concerns, and responses to interventions.
- Participate in team meetings and case discussions as required.
- Work collaboratively with families, supervisors, team members, and community partners.
- Perform other related duties as required.

- Comfortable supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and/or physical, medical, or behavioural support needs.
- Able to build trusting and respectful relationships with clients and families.
- A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident handling challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Skilled at problem-solving, conflict resolution, and adapting to changing circumstances.
- Committed to confidentiality, professional ethics, dignity, and respect.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently while being part of a team.
- Willing to continue learning and participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Post-secondary education in social work, psychology, human services,



or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Clear and current Driver’s Abstract.
- Valid vehicle registration.
- Valid vehicle insurance with a minimum of $1,000,000 liability coverage.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout New Brunswick to meet client needs.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, including homes, schools, and community settings.
- Clear Criminal Record Check.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Transparent Social Development Check prior to employment.
