About St Michael’s Elementary

St Michael’s Elementary is an elementary Catholic school for boys and girls, from Kindergarten to grade 7. The school is a dynamic and welcoming community that nurtures a love of learning and sustains a life‑giving community. The school is in the heart of Burnaby, BC, close to parks, restaurants, and easy access to downtown Vancouver.

Job Description

St. Michael's Elementary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate After School Care Supervisor to oversee and facilitate the daily operations of the after‑school program. The ideal candidate will ensure a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for students to engage in various activities, complete homework,



and develop social skills in alignment with the school’s Catholic values. This is a part‑time position from 3 PM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, on days when the school is in session. Physical activity is required and will include walking, standing, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervision and Safety – oversee the safety and well‑being of students during after‑school hours and monitor activities to ensure a safe and respectful atmosphere.
- Program Implementation – plan and facilitate engaging educational, recreational, and spiritual development activities; assist students with homework and provide additional academic support.
- Communication – maintain open and effective communication with parents, teachers, and school administration; provide regular updates to the Principal about program operations and student behaviour.
- Administrative Duties – keep accurate records of student attendance and incidents; assist with the setup and cleanup of program spaces and materials.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
- Experience or coursework related to working with children with diverse needs or abilities is an asset.

Skills and Abilities

- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
