Finish Excavator Operator - Earthworks

Salary: 34-42$ an hour

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Finish Excavator Operator include, but are not limited to:

- Ability to operate Excavator in tight areas in a protected manner
- Able to finish clay and other surfaces within centimeter tolerances.
- Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury or property damage.
- Must have reliable transportation in and around Edmonton.
- Operate equipment according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Verifies the equipment is in working order through daily pre and post inspections
- Perform daily maintenance and cleaning activities
- Ensure heavy equipment is securely stored & advise the onsite supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
- Actively participate in safety meetings and safety culture
- Ability to work within close proximity with ground personal and communicate with grades-person.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
- Work in a safe,



responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

- Minimum 5 years of related experience in commercial, civil or industrial earthworks

· Comfortable excavating in close proximity to existing utilities and/or structures
- Experience with other construction equipment considered an asset
- Ability to read & interpret grade stakes (cut/fill, offsets etc.)
- Effective attention to detail with highest degree of accuracy
- Excellent problem-solving skills required.
- Good analytical ability
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must have proven ability to work in tight spots.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work in outdoors in physically demanding conditions.
- Committed to working in a safe and efficient manner.
- CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support.
- CSTS-09, or CSTS- 2020 required
- First Aid and Ground Disturbance Considered an asset
- Successful candidates are required to have personal reliable transportation, and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for pre access to some sites when required is an asset.
- Candidates must successfully complete Tierra Constructions Orientation prior to work

Schedule:

- Average of 10+/- Hour shifts
- Day shift
- Overtime as required
- In-town work
- Monday-Saturday Schedule

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $34.00-$45.00 per hour
