About the Fitter Role The Fitter is responsible for supporting production operations by assembling, fitting, and installing structural steel and metal components according to specifications and engineered drawings while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities
· Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, engineered drawings, and specifications.
· Lay out, fit, align, position, and assemble structural steel and metal components.
· Assemble and fit fabricated sections, plates, and components using approved methods and tools.
· Perform tack welding as required to support fitting and assembly processes.
· Operate fabrication equipment and hand tools including grinders, drills, torches, brake presses, and other shop equipment.
· Inspect completed work to ensure quality and specification requirements are met.
· Assist with rigging, hoisting, and moving materials using cranes and lifting equipment.
· Maintain clean and safe work areas while following all company safety procedures and policies.
· Support production activities and assist other employees when required.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings.
· Knowledge of fitting, fabrication, and assembly processes.
· Ability to safely operate fabrication equipment, hand tools, and shop machinery.
· Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
· Ability to work within a team environment and communicate effectively with others.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to repetitively lift 25-50 lbs.
