Summary of Duties and Responsibilities To work directly with the Kitchen Team, in daily kitchen operations, providing banquet and catering services to our guests onsite and offsite.
General
· Work cooperatively with other cooks and assistants in organizing and preparing meals.
· Provide good customer service and deal hospitably and appropriately with guests’ needs.
· Maintain a protected environment for guests and staff in the kitchen and dining areas, following Five Oaks Health and Safety Policies and Health Unit Guidelines.
· Cleaning as necessary, to assist in upkeep of the kitchen facilities.
· Must be available to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends to accommodate the need to staff various shifts.
· Be able to work alone and in a team setting.
· Taking care of food handling and storage according to government regulations and standards.
· Consistent and reliable transportation to and from Five Oaks.
Food Preparation
· Pay attention to health concerns, cleanliness and freshness when serving food to guests.
· Prepare, cook, and bake all menu items ready to be served at designated time with a pleasing presentation.
· Prepare and label snacks and set out at appropriate times.
· Be aware of guests’ known dietary restrictions. Accommodate last minute special needs graciously.
· Correctly store and label leftovers that have potential for use in another menu.
· Clean up kitchen, stoves, and floors, and wash up cooking pots, pans and utensils leaving area ready for next shift.
· Comfortable with banquet style service.

Education and/or Experience
1-2 Years of cooking experience
Food Handlers Certificate (can acquire during hiring process)
First Aid (can acquire during hiring process)
Cooking for Large Groups
Health & Safety Courses related to Food and Food Preparation
Accountability The Cook reports to and is directly supervised by the Head Cook, and in their absence the Operations Manager. The relationship between staff and Board is founded on a basis of honesty and mutual respect. It is understood that the Cook and management team are there to support and uphold the mission of Five Oaks Centre, and in this regard, are working together toward the same goal.
This position will be 35 hours per week. Shifts are primarily 6am-2pm, focusing on Breakfast and Lunch. Scheduling hours of the kitchen are between 6am and 9pm. This role is primarily weekend shifts, based on business demands, flexing to overtime hours per week during peak seasons.
All relevant aspects of this position will be carried out and supervised in compliance with human rights legislation and employment equity objectives as set out by the Ontario Employment Standards Act.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
