Food Genie is a local Nanaimo company specializing in meal preparation and catering. We are a small, close-knit team producing a large volume of fresh, high-quality food each week—and we rely on every team member to contribute and work well together.

Our production kitchen is located in a bright, self-contained suite within a residential home.

We are looking for a full-time production cook to join our team. This position is initially being hired to cover a medical leave, with a strong likelihood of becoming a permanent position.

What You’ll Do

- Prepare large-volume batches of soups, curries, pastas, casseroles, and other family-style meals
- Prepare and assemble fresh salads, rice bowls, and meal-prep items
- Follow recipes carefully to ensure consistency and quality
- Assist with off-site catering jobs when required
- Complete general kitchen preparation, cooking, cleaning, and organization
- Work closely with the rest of our small production team

What We’re Looking For
- At least one year of experience working in a professional kitchen
- Strong knife skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and produce consistent results
- Strong multitasking and time-management skills




- A positive attitude and willingness to contribute wherever needed
- Dependability and a strong team mentality—because we are a small team, we rely on you!
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy, high-volume kitchen
- FOODSAFE certification and a valid driver’s licence are considered assets

Schedule
- Full time, Monday through Friday day shifts
- Start times generally vary between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m.
- Shifts may occasionally run longer depending on production needs
- Some Saturday catering shifts may be available or required, with an alternate weekday off
