HACCP COORDINATOR

Position Summary

Our Beef/Bison processing plant is HACCP certified and Federally Inspected (CFIA).

The HACCP Coordinator will work closely with the HACCP Manager in developing, implementing, maintaining and continuous improvement of all related Food Safety Programs & Policies including but not limited to SQF Food Safety and Quality systems, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

The successful candidate for the this role is a food safety professional, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining systems to ensure that large animals, are safe and free from hazards during the initial slaughter and processing stages. They ensure compliance with CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) regulations, specifically focusing on hygienic slaughter, sanitation, and defect detection

Responsibilities:

The HACCP Coordinator monitors and analyzes data related to all Food Safety, GMP, HACCP and other Quality Assurance Program requirements to ensure they are consistently achieved. The coordinator is responsible for reviewing escalated proposed corrective actions and providing additional guidance and support as required.

Reporting and programs:

· Maintain and coordinate verification and changes to standard operating procedures (SOP’s).

· Conduct Critical Control Point (CCP) and/or prerequisite training and other Food Safety Training.

· Execute Non-Compliance Reports.

· Investigate and draft responses for customer and consumer complaints.

· Coordinate FSQA document management (SOP's, training material, policies, etc.).

· Assist with environmental monitoring program.

· Participate in meetings and projects as required.

· Provide back-up support/leadership to FSQA Technicians.





· Coordinate and ensure proper execution of Hold and Release program.

Record maintenance and verification

· Organization of data entry and paperwork, including customer reporting, filing and retention.

· Review and verify preventive controls and critical control points (CCP).

Testing and calibration:

· Ensuring all required testing is being completed and schedules are being met.

· Ensuring equipment is calibrated within the defined limits.

· Conduct environmental testing program, including water testing, swabbing schedule, and air monitoring.

· Communicate results and prepare samples to and from off-site laboratories.

Audits:

· Participate and prepare for regulatory audits, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Health Authorities and stakeholder audits.

· Coordinate and ensure proper execution of Hold and Release program.

· Performs data entry and data analysis.

· Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

· A University degree in Food Science or related field, or equivalent

· 2 to 3 years of experience in a technical role at a raw food manufacturing facility.

· Proven ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.

· Solid interpersonal skills.

· Effective oral and written communication skills.

· Excellent organizational and planning skills with strong attention to detail.

· Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Proficient using office equipment, Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
