: The Health Educator – Senior provides leadership for the development, implementation and evaluation of population-based strategies to create the conditions that support health for residents of Saskatchewan. This position leads and builds capacity for the development of healthy public policy, creating supportive environments, strengthening community action, and re-orienting health services. This position engages with other population health staff, SHA departments, inter-sectoral agencies, and community partners to help set direction for population health promotion strategies, with an emphasis on addressing social determinant of health and increasing health equity.
This position collaborates with the Manager regarding program development to ensure continuous improvement occurs using best practice information. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Experience
- Two (2) years' relevant work experience determined by Employer.
Education
- Bachelor degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, or Health Education
Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge in Population Health Promotion current research on strategies/outcomes
- Knowledge in marginalized populations
- Demonstrates ability in teaching, facilitation and group activities
- Knowledge in population health promotion approaches and community development
- Ability to take initiative
- Tact, diplomacy and ability to represent the Dept. in the public or in the media
- Has demonstrated strong critical thinking, financial and analytical skills
- Ability to be flexible and willing to change
- Advance computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Access).
- Proven skill in program or project planning and evaluation.
- Preference to applicants fluent in Indigenous languages common to the region
- Ability to lead/encourage/advise/collaborate with colleagues to achieve goals
- Superior interpersonal, communication and writing skills
- Knowledge of the population health approach and social determinants of health
- Knowledge of Indigenous Culture and traditions
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to be innovative and creative
- Demonstrated ability to develop funding proposals
