The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Saint John is looking for an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Maintenance Manager to join our team.

Located at 400 Main Street, our 94-room award-winning hotel features an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, meeting facilities, guest breakfast area, and extensive building and mechanical systems.

The Position

As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, appearance, safety, and efficient operation of the hotel. You will take a proactive approach to preventative maintenance while responding quickly to repairs and maintenance needs throughout the property.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations of the hotel.
- Develop and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program.
- Complete repairs and maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, meeting rooms, pool areas, and back-of-house areas.
- Troubleshoot and maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, mechanical, and building systems.
- Respond promptly to guest and departmental maintenance requests.
- Conduct regular inspections of the property and identify areas requiring attention.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, inspection records, and preventative maintenance documentation.
- Monitor and maintain pool equipment and related systems. (training provided)
- Complete painting, drywall, carpentry, fixture installation, and general building repairs as required.
- Coordinate outside contractors and service providers when specialized work is required.
- Obtain quotes and assist with managing maintenance-related expenses.




- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies.
- Ensure all equipment and work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly condition.
- Assist with fire/life-safety inspections and ensure maintenance-related deficiencies are addressed promptly.
- Support compliance with hotel, provincial, health & safety, and brand requirements.
- Work closely with the General Manager and other department managers to identify maintenance priorities.
- Assist with hotel projects, renovations, upgrades, and capital improvements.
- Be available for emergency maintenance situations and participate in an on-call rotation as required.
- Ensure the hotel consistently maintains the high standards expected of an award-winning Holiday Inn Express property.

What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in hotel, commercial, building, or facilities maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of general building maintenance.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance records, emails, and work orders.
- Previous hotel maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
- A valid driver's licence would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency situations when required.
