Position Summary
Lion Travel is seeking a hands-on and resourceful HR Generalist to support employees and business leaders across North America while working closely with our headquarters in Taiwan.
This position serves as a primary HR point of contact and supports employee relations, recruitment, performance management, employment compliance, workplace health and safety, HR reporting, and process improvement.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, multicultural, and multi-jurisdictional environment. The role requires sound judgment and the ability to balance employee needs, operational priorities, legal requirements, and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities-
HR Operations and Employee Relations
- Serve as a primary HR point of contact for employees and managers.
- Provide practical guidance on HR policies, attendance, performance, workplace conduct, documentation, and employee-relations matters.
- Coach managers on employee concerns, workplace communication, performance issues, corrective action, and other people-management matters.
- Receive and assess employee concerns and complaints and support fair and confidential workplace investigations when required.
- Assist with workplace conflict, accommodation matters, and other sensitive employee situations.
Recruitment and Employee Lifecycle
- Manage or support full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviews, reference checks, offers, and hiring coordination.
- Coordinate employment agreements, onboarding, orientation, probation tracking, employment changes, and internal transfers.
- Support leave administration, accommodations, offboarding, exit interviews, and employment documentation.
- Work with managers to identify staffing needs and improve recruitment and retention practices.
Performance and Employee Development
- Coordinate probationary and performance-review processes and ensure timely documentation and follow-up.
- Assist managers in establishing performance expectations, development goals, KPIs, OKRs, and performance-improvement plans.
- Identify training needs and coordinate employee and management training.
- Support employee engagement, retention, capability development,
and organizational-development initiatives.
Employment Compliance and Policies
- Support compliance with applicable employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety requirements, and company policies.
- Research employment requirements and provide practical recommendations for different jurisdictions.
- Draft, update, communicate, and implement HR policies, procedures, templates, checklists, and employment documentation.
- Support matters involving working hours, overtime, leaves, attendance, workplace conduct, investigations, and termination of employment.
- Coordinate with headquarters, management, legal counsel, payroll, finance, and external service providers as required.
Workplace Health and Safety
- Support workplace health and safety programs and maintain required policies, training records, inspection records, and related documentation.
- Coordinate or support Joint Health and Safety Committee activities, including meetings, minutes, workplace inspections, required postings, and corrective-action tracking.
- Support respectful workplace, bullying and harassment prevention, hazard reporting, emergency preparedness, and workplace-violence-prevention initiatives.
HR Reporting and Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in HR systems and personnel files.
- Prepare HR reports and analyze workforce data, including headcount, recruitment, turnover, attendance, performance, and leave information.
- Develop tracking tools, templates, checklists, and automated processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, accountability, and deadline management.
- Identify gaps in existing HR processes and recommend practical and sustainable improvements.
- Coordinate HR programs, organizational changes, and assigned projects with headquarters and regional leaders.
- Translate or adapt HR communications and documentation between Chinese and English when required.
- Provide selected office and operational support relating to employees, workplace readiness, company assets, vendors, or internal events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labour Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist, HR Advisor, or HR Business Partner role.
- Practical experience in employee relations, recruitment, performance management, policy administration, and employment documentation.
- Working knowledge of British Columbia employment standards, human rights, and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Experience supporting other Canadian provinces or U.S. jurisdictions is an asset.
- Experience with workplace investigations, JHSC administration, or WorkSafeBC requirements is an asset.
- Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese and English is required.
- Strong judgment, discretion, attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities, sensitive matters, and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, operational managers, senior leaders, and headquarters.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Experience with HRIS, ATS, payroll systems, data analysis, or workflow automation is an asset.
- A CPHR designation or active progress toward the designation is an asset.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Language Requirement: Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English

Pay: $64,800.00-$79,200.00 per year
