Modern Rentals Ltd. is seeking an experienced, organized, and people-focused Human Resources Manager to oversee the day-to-day Human Resources function of the organization.

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, compliance, health and safety support, and HR policy administration.

This position works closely with ownership and department managers to provide practical HR guidance, support a positive workplace culture, ensure compliance with applicable Alberta employment legislation, and develop processes that support the company's continued growth.

The successful candidate will be approachable, professional, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment where priorities can change quickly.Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Management

- Oversee the day-to-day Human Resources function for Modern Rentals.
- Act as the primary HR resource for employees and management.
- Provide guidance to managers regarding employee-related matters.
- Maintain a professional, approachable, and confidential HR presence throughout the organization.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure HR practices align with company objectives and applicable legislation.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
- Provide HR reporting and recommendations to ownership and management.

Recruitment & Hiring
- Manage the full recruitment and selection process.
- Create and maintain job descriptions and job postings.
- Advertise available positions and review applications.
- Conduct interviews and participate in candidate selection.
- Complete reference checks and employment verification.
- Prepare employment offers and employment agreements.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements.
- Ensure all new employees complete required hiring documentation.

Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle
- Coordinate employee onboarding and orientation.
- Ensure current employees receive required policies, procedures, training, and documentation.
- Maintain employee personnel files and HRIS information.




- Conduct probationary and employment status reviews.
- Support employee transfers, promotions, and changes in employment status.
- Coordinate employee offboarding and termination processes.

Employee Relations
- Provide guidance and support regarding workplace concerns.
- Assist managers with attendance, performance, conduct, and workplace issues.
- Support conflict resolution and employee concerns.
- Conduct and document workplace investigations when required.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality throughout employee relations matters.
- Assist with progressive discipline and corrective action.
- Prepare written documentation, warnings, and other employee correspondence.
- Promote respectful and professional workplace relationships.

Performance Management
- Develop and maintain performance-management processes.
- Support managers with employee performance concerns.
- Coordinate probationary and annual performance reviews.
- Assist managers in establishing performance expectations and goals.
- Develop performance improvement plans where appropriate.
- Monitor completion of required performance documentation.

Policies & Compliance
- Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies.
- Ensure employees receive and acknowledge applicable policies.
- Monitor changes to Alberta employment legislation and recommend updates to company practices.
- Support compliance with Alberta Employment Standards and other applicable legislation.
- Maintain appropriate employment documentation.
- Ensure employee records are accurate, current, and confidential.

HRIS & Records Management
- Maintain accurate employee information within the company's HRIS and payroll systems.
- Ensure employee files are complete and current.
- Maintain confidential personnel documentation.
- Generate HR reports as required.




- Ensure appropriate access and confidentiality of employee information.

Management Support
- Partner with department managers to address employee and operational concerns.
- Provide HR guidance to managers regarding policies and employee matters.
- Assist management with organizational changes and staffing requirements.
- Participate in management meetings when HR matters are discussed.
- Provide recommendations to ownership regarding HR risks, employee concerns, and opportunities for improvement.

Employee Engagement & Culture
- Support initiatives that promote employee engagement and retention.
- Assist with employee recognition initiatives.
- Support company events and employee communications.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and professional workplace.
- Identify opportunities to improve the employee experience.
- Develop initiatives that support employee morale and retention.

Training & Development
- Identify employee training and development needs.
- Coordinate required training.
- Maintain employee training records.
- Support leadership development initiatives.
- Assist managers with employee development plans.
- Identify opportunities to improve employee skills and performance.

Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Experience in a Human Resources Manager, HR Generalist, or similar leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta employment legislation and HR practices.
- Experience with payroll administration and payroll systems.
- Strong employee-relations and conflict-resolution experience.
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and HR/payroll systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with management.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
