Human Resources & Talent Acquisition Manager
We are a consumer-packaged goods company located in the heart of downtown Montreal,
specializing in manufacturing, developing, designing, and marketing consumer products under license for a major American national brand. Our mission is to provide high-quality products that meet market demand through effective planning and innovation.
The HR & Talent Acquisition Manager should be capable of leading the organization's HR function while developing effective recruitment strategies to attract, retain, and develop talent,
ensuring compliance with employment legislation, and acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development,
performance management, employee relations, and offboarding.
- Coordinate recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews,
reference checks and hiring.
- Support managers by providing guidance on performance management, employee counselling, disciplinary actions, attendance management, and compliance with employment legislation.
- Maintain HR documentation, including job descriptions, employee files, employment contracts, policies, organizational charts, and HR templates.
- Coordinate onboarding by preparing employment documentation, arranging equipment and system access, conducting orientations, and ensuring completion of all onboarding requirements.
- Administer employee documentation, including employment verification, reference letters,
travel letters, and policy acknowledgements.
- Monitor attendance and leave, provide recommendations to address attendance issues, and support supervisors in managing employee performance.
- Coordinate employee training and development initiatives, including workshops,
conferences, mandatory training, and compliance with training requirements.
- Ensure compliance with employment standards, workplace policies,
health and safety requirements, and company procedures.
- Administer employee benefits by liaising with benefit providers, reviewing health plans, and communicating employee programs and perks.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and legal documentation.
- Coordinate HR-related administrative functions, including government grants, IT and equipment requests, organizational updates, newsletters, employee engagement activities,
and company events.
- Advise management on employment law, termination procedures, compensation, benefits,
and HR best practices.
- Coordinate and manage first-week onboarding schedules for new hires.
- Arrange and coordinate travel accommodations for out-of-province employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field is an asset
- CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) designation - preferred
- Additional training in employment law, recruitment, leadership, or compensation is an asset.
Experience
- 5–10 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- 3–5 years of experience leading full-cycle recruitment and talent acquisition.
- Experience supporting managers in employee relations, performance management,
coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Experience administering employee perks, compensation, and HRIS systems.
- Experience managing onboarding, offboarding,
and employee engagement initiatives.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, consumer goods, distribution, or corporate environment is an asset.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of employment standards and labour legislation applicable to the jurisdiction (e.g., Quebec, Canadian and US employment law).
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements.
- Understanding of recruitment strategies, employer branding, and talent sourcing.
- Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) – preferred LinkedIn
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
