Human Resources Generalist

Reports to: Director of Operations & Corporate Services

Compensation: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 annually, comprehensive health and dental benefit plan; 3-week annual vacation

Schedule: 8:30-4:30,35 hours / week. Wyndham House is a continuous operation, and therefore occasional evening and weekend work is required.

Wyndham House is an innovative community-based organization dedicated to supporting youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Guelph-Wellington. Through a range of housing, prevention, and support programs, we work alongside young people to build stability, connection, and opportunity. Our approach is grounded in prevention, housing-first principles, and youth choice.

Wyndham House is a continuous operation, providing services 24 hours/day and 365 days/year. All members of the team are required to work some evening and weekend hours as required. Wyndham House is in a period of growth and evolution, with a staff team approaching 100 employees. Reporting to the Director of Operations & Corporate Services, the Human Resources Generalist provides daily operational and tactical support for human resources operations, ensuring compliance, supporting employees and managers, and maintaining smooth HR processes across the employee lifecycle.

The role supports organizational effectiveness through recruitment, labour relations, employee engagement, talent management, organizational development, compensation and benefits, policy development, workplace wellness, health and safety, and legislative compliance.

This is a human resources role for an experienced HR professional who is ready to engage at an operational/tactical level and assist in supporting the future of people and culture at Wyndham House.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Management & Employee Experience

- Serve as the primary HR contact for Wyndham House
- Responsible for the design and delivery of full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, retention, and succession planning
- Identify and support learning and development opportunities across the organization
- Analyze employee experience data (including exit interviews) to strengthen retention and engagement

Employee Relations, Labour Relations & Leadership Support





- Function as a trusted advisor to support employees and managers through coaching, performance management, conflict, and employee relations
- Provide support in labour relations, collective bargaining, grievance management, and workplace investigations
- Provide guidance on policies, employment legislation, and HR best practices
- Support the resolution of workplace issues in a fair, consistent, and solutions-focused manner
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous feedback, high-performance, and skilled growth

People Strategy, Culture & Organizational Development

- Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-oppressive practices across the organization
- Monitor/report on HR metrics, KPIs/dashboards, and HRIS systems
- Support organizational growth and change through thoughtful change management and workforce planning
- Support initiatives that strengthen organizational culture, employee engagement, and staff wellbeing
- Champion employee engagement, wellness, health & safety, risk management, recognition, and organizational culture initiatives.

HR Operations, Policy & Compliance

- Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with legislation and organizational needs
- Ensure compliance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR Systems
- Oversee benefits administration and support tracking and upgrading compensation, benefits, disability management strategies
- Monitor and improve HR systems and processes to support organizational effectiveness
- Monitor HR budgets and contribute to organizational planning and reporting
- Monitor human resources practices for compliance and quality assurance
- Review performance appraisal process to confirm reviews are meeting performance schedules

Qualifications Education & Experience

- Experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired though post-secondary education in Human Resources, or related field, and a professional human resources designation (CHRP), and experience in a related human resources role. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in the non-profit or social services sector

Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance,



HR policy development, disability case management, and report writing
- Ability to manage multiple HR functions simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of HRIS systems, analytic and AI-assisted tools
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace

Additional Requirements

- Successful Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Current standard First Aid and CPR Certification
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License in good standing
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work in-person in Guelph, Ontario
