IMPORTANT: This is an in person tutoring position in Cochrane, Alberta. We are not hiring online only tutors at this time. Applicants must be available to tutor on weekdays and be willing to meet students at public locations within Cochrane.

At Lomita Tutoring Corp., our tutors play a vital role in supporting and guiding students to reach their full academic potential. As a tutor, you are more than just an educator; you are a mentor, motivator, and problem-solver.

Here’s what you can expect to do in this role:

Provide Personalized Learning Support

- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to strengthen their understanding of English and Social Studies
- Supporting Grades 1-12 (you do not have to support all grades at once)
- Willingness to work with first-year university students is a plus, but not required.
- Adapt teaching methods to match each student’s learning style and pace.
- Identify academic gaps and develop targeted strategies to help students succeed.

Assist with Homework, Assignments & Exam Prep

- Help students complete assignments, projects, and prepare for tests with confidence.
- Explain difficult concepts in an easy-to-understand way to improve comprehension.
- Teach students effective study habits

Build Confidence & Encourage Academic Growth

- Provide positive reinforcement and motivation to help students gain self-confidence.
- Teach students how to think critically, analyze problems, and develop strong learning habits.




- Encourage a growth mindset, showing students that they can improve with effort and practice.

Create a Supportive & Engaging Learning Setting

- Foster a safe, encouraging space where students feel comfortable asking questions.
- Use interactive teaching techniques, visual aids, and real-world examples to make learning engaging and fun.
- Track student progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians when needed.

Maintain Professionalism & Passion for Education

- Be reliable, patient, and enthusiastic about helping students succeed.
- Stay up-to-date with curriculum standards and best teaching practices.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and fellow tutors.

Qualifications

- Currently a University Student or has a University Degree
- Strong tutoring and teaching abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working with children/young adults in educational settings
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
- Patience and understanding in guiding students through challenges

Job Types: Permanent, Casual Pay: $15.00-$30.00 per hour
