Position Overview
Union House is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and diligent to add to our team a few hours on weekdays with some potential weekends as a secondary staff. Union House is a small private operation currently offering 15-30 hours weekly depending on your availability. The ideal candidate meets every requirement, currently possesses necessary certifications and paperwork
( Human Service Counsellor/ Nursing Students and Graduates/ Social Work disciplines/ Personal
Support Workers), and has at least one year experience working in facilities housing adults or youth with disabilities, and or delayed cognitive function. Union House is unique due to the atmosphere we create for our residents, our location is meant to feel like home to each resident and a team member will understand the necessities of all residents in a case-by-case scenario.
Responsibilities
- Complete tasks and duties with utmost attention while consistently maintaining
confidentiality and professionalism in the work place.
- Assist residents and strive towards independence when applicable regarding personal
hygiene as required including but not limited to; bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Prepare meals/snacks, as well as assisting with feeding where applicable. This includes
following the meal plan for all residents, as well as one diabetic.
- Administer medications and sign medication records.
- Complete all daily chores and other cleaning tasks as listed on the schedule, including
laundry, dishes, vacuuming, mopping etc.
- Keep detailed records in the shift book as well as the medication records. Staff are also
responsible for answering the telephone and taking messages for residents/operator.
- Participate in group activities, weekly programming for residents and or outings
accompanying the residents with other staff or independently moving forward.
- Ability to deal with high stress situations and manage time and tasks effectively on a
day to day basis. Estabrooks 1 This position can be very demanding at times, and we require staff who are adaptable to these unique situations. Some residents present challenging behaviours due to their mental cognition and any staff member of Union House will accept them as they are and do their best to understand where these behaviours come from.
Qualifications
- Valid and current Standard First-Aid and CPR certification
- Valid Criminal Record Check as well as Vulnerable Sector Check
- Certification as one of following (or similar experience/certifications), Bachelor in
Psychology, Human Service Counsellor, Home Health Care Aide, (other certifications and experience may be applicable. Please do not hesitate to reach out to see if you qualify. Previous experience working with adults/children with cognitive delays and or disabilities for at least six-months, is required.

- CPR/First Aid certification, other qualifying certifications/courses/certification should also be
included in the application.
- After your application has been reviewed, if management decides to reach out we will do so
via email as supplied by you in your resume.
- Interview scheduled to be completed at Union House led by the operations manager, including
an introduction to the residents.
- After your interview, if both yourself and management wish to continue with the process a trial
shift will be scheduled.
- Lastly, if all above steps go well and management wishes to move forward you will be
required to supply all documents and certifications listed above in qualifications. Estabrooks 2 Job Types: Part time, permanent/long-term, 15-30 hours per week. We are looking for serious permanent inquiries only, in hopes to add capable long-term members to our team.

$ 23.80/hour
