We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Immigration Paralegal to support our immigration lawyers/authorized representatives with Canadian immigration matters. The successful candidate will assist with client intake, document preparation, application processing, legal research, file management, and communication with clients and relevant authorities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with preparation and review of Canadian immigration applications and supporting documents.
Prepare, organize, and maintain client files and case records.
Review documents for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and missing information.
Assist with applications related to temporary residence, work permits, study permits, visitor visas, permanent residence, LMIA-related matters, family sponsorship, and other immigration programs, depending on the firm's practice areas.
Conduct legal and regulatory research relating to Canadian immigration.
Monitor application deadlines, procedural requirements, and case updates.
Draft correspondence, document requests, submissions, procedural letters, and other case-related documents under appropriate supervision.
Communicate with clients to obtain required information and supporting documentation.
Follow up with clients regarding outstanding documents and application requirements.
Assist in preparing responses to requests for additional documents or information.
Track application status and maintain accurate case-management records.
Assist lawyers/authorized representatives with case preparation and file review.
Maintain confidentiality of client information and comply with applicable professional and privacy requirements.
Stay updated on changes to IRCC, IRB, ESDC/Service Canada, and applicable immigration legislation, policies, and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Diploma/degree in Paralegal Studies, Law, Legal Studies, Immigration Law, or a related field.
Previous experience working with Canadian immigration files is preferred.
Strong knowledge of Canadian immigration procedures and documentation.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Solid legal research and document-review abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and case/document management systems.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive client information professionally.
