Position: Inclusive Support Worker

Hinton Aboriginal Head Start is looking for a caring, patient, and experienced Inclusive Support Worker to provide one-on-one support to a young child with additional communication and developmental needs. The successful candidate will work alongside our Early Childhood Educators to help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where the child can participate fully in the Head Start program.

Key Responsibilities:

- Providing one-on-one support throughout the program day
- Supporting a child who is non-speaking/non-verbal with communication and participation
- Supporting transitions, routines, play, activities, meals, and outdoor programming
- Helping the child engage with peers and participate in group activities
- Following individualized strategies and recommendations from the child's support team
- Support and provide full toileting and personal care support This includes assisting with diaper changes, hygiene and cleaning, clothing changes as needed, and supporting the child’s personal care needs throughout the day.
- Observing and communicating progress and concerns with program staff
- Working collaboratively with educators, families, and other professionals
- Maintaining confidentiality and respecting the child's dignity, privacy, and individual needs

Qualifications:

- Experience working with children with diverse or additional support needs
- Experience supporting children who are non-speaking or have communication differences




- Early Childhood Educator certification- Level 2 minimum
- Current First Aid/CPR certification required
- Clear criminal Record check and Vulnerable Sector Check required
- Experience in early childhood education, education assistance, child and youth care, disability support, or a related field is an asset
- Patience, compassion, flexibility, and strong communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team while also providing focused one-on-one support
- A positive, inclusive, and non-judgmental approach
- Understanding and respect for Indigenous culture and the Aboriginal Head Start program is an asset

This is a wonderful chance for someone who is passionate about inclusion and wants to make a meaningful difference in a child's early learning experience. Hours: Part time- 2 days per week 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (14-16 hours/week)

Wage: $19.00-$21.00 per hour. Based on education and experience.
