The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and controls across the Company's facilities, fleet support infrastructure, and operational equipment. The position ensures that all electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably, minimizing downtime while supporting uninterrupted operations.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults affecting machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure.
- Repair or replace motors, starters, relays, circuit breakers, contactors, transformers, switches, and electrical panels.
- Perform electrical wiring for new installations, upgrades, and equipment modifications.
- Diagnose and resolve power distribution issues affecting operations.
Equipment & Plant Support
- Maintain electrical systems on recycling equipment, conveyors, balers, compactors, pumps, shredders, wastewater treatment equipment, generators, compressors, and other industrial machinery.
- Install and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control centers (MCCs), and associated electrical controls.
- Inspect and maintain emergency power systems and backup generators.
- Assist with electrical support for fleet maintenance facilities and workshop equipment.
- Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns to minimize operational downtime.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Inspect electrical installations for wear, overheating, corrosion, loose connections, or potential failures.
- Test electrical equipment using appropriate diagnostic instruments.
- Recommend repairs, upgrades, or replacement of aging electrical components.
- Ensure all preventive maintenance activities are properly documented.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and Company standards.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before performing maintenance.
- Use electrical testing equipment safely and correctly.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and protected work environment.
Documentation & Teamwork
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair reports, and work orders.
- Report recurring equipment failures and recommend long-term corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisors, Mechanics, Technicians, and Operations personnel to prioritize repairs.
- Assist with emergency repairs outside normal working hours when required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department.
Requirements
- Certificate, Trade Qualification,
or equivalent technical training in Industrial Electrical Installation, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related electrical trade.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience performing industrial electrical maintenance on manufacturing plants, processing facilities, heavy equipment, or industrial machinery.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, power distribution, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience working with three-phase electrical systems.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting motors, VFDs, control panels, sensors, and industrial electrical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is considered an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team.

- Frequent climbing, bending, lifting, standing, and working at heights when required.
- Occasional after-hours or emergency call-out work may be required.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and must be worn at all times.
