Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Installation Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for outdoor work and a strong interest in landscape maintenance. As an Installation Laborer, you will be responsible for various tasks that contribute to the upkeep and beautification of gardens and landscapes. This role requires hands-on work using both hand tools and power tools, and driving a trailer, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

- Perform landscape installation and maintenance, including planting, weeding, pruning, mulching, and general garden maintenance.
- Install sod and prepare sites through grading, raking, soil preparation, and other related tasks.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, mowers, and landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
- Operate skid steers, excavators, and other heavy equipment where trained and qualified.
- Drive company vehicles and trailers, including towing trailers safely to and from job sites.
- Drive company water trucks to water trees, shrubs, sod, and lawn areas during dry and sunny periods.
- Install and maintain irrigation systems.
- Perform hardscape work including retaining walls, pavers, concrete, and other landscape features.
- Perform basic carpentry work including fences, pergolas, decks, and other outdoor structures.
- Load, unload, transport, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work sites.
- Work as part of a team to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Take on a variety of general labour and landscaping duties

Skills

- Knowledge of garden care techniques and landscape maintenance practices.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and pruners.
- Driving a trailer
- Familiarity with power tools including trimmers, blowers,



and saws is preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Ability to dig effectively while maintaining safety standards on-site.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
- A proactive attitude towards learning recent skills related to landscaping and maintenance.
- Irrigation Experience
- Able to perform regular heavy lifting up to 50Ibs

Required

- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Clean driver's abstract (must be provided prior to start date)
- Able to perform regular heavy lifting up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage your own time effectively on the site

Nice To Have

- Class 1 driver's license
- Forklift or front-end loader certification or experience
- Previous experience in landscaping, agriculture, or a related outdoor industry
- Familiarity with the Nanaimo area and Central Vancouver Island
- Basic mechanical knowledge and comfort identifying and reporting equipment issues
