- All personal protective equipment, tools, and job training provided at no cost Responsibilities - Maintain, install, repair, and set up process control equipment (controllers, transmitters, final control elements); maintain, repair and calibrate instrument and combustion equipment
- Maintain proficiency in prescribed TSSA, ESA safety procedures, codes, and standards
- Perform special investigation and experimental work as required
- Interpret electrical schematics and process flow drawings involving blueprints, PLC or DCS systems
- Diagnose complex process problems, determine best resolution, and execute safe repair
- Work alone or collaboratively with maintenance and production teams
- Develop, provide, and ensure complete and proper safety clearances and procedures as required
- Prepare detailed daily activity log, update drawings and calibration sheets when required
- Perform detailed teardown and repair of control valves, actuators and positioners; reassemble, tune and set up associated hardware
- Perform simple layouts and fabrications to install or upgrade instrument hardware
- Respond to service calls on all gas and oil burning appliances, repairing, replacing or adjusting components where needed
- Work alone, with minimal supervision, or with other maintenance technicians in conjunction with operating team members to perform maintenance tasks Job Qualifications - Instrumentation and Control Technician Certification of Qualification (447A)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an industrial environment Job Skills and Knowledge - Temperature tolerance: withstand extreme temperatures
- Reaction time: quickly respond to process upsets
- Static strength: exert significant muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
- Trunk strength: use abdominal and lower back muscles to support body repeatedly or continuously over time, including bending and stooping
- Dynamic strength:
exert muscle force at intervals throughout shift, muscular endurance and resistance to fatigue
- Agility: negotiate different areas of the plant, including climbing stairs, ladders, and moving around barriers
- Manual dexterity: quickly move and react Work Environment The job is within a heavy industrial environment and may require working in various areas of the facility. Environmental conditions may be hot, cold, dirty, dusty, wet or noisy. All work must be performed in accordance with established safety procedures and guidelines, including mandatory use of company‑issued personal protective equipment such as hard hats, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, flame‑resistant clothing, and safety footwear with metatarsal protection throughout the shift. Employees work in a unionized and heavy industrial setting.
The Lake
Erie facility operates 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. Expected work schedule is 12‑hour shifts, rotating days and nights on a continental pattern. Work may include weekends and holidays and overtime as needed.
