Intermediate Accountant tappCONNECT Inc. is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant with strong experience to join our professional team in South Edmonton.

As an Intermediate Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of our diverse group of businesses by ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting processes.
About the Role
As an Intermediate Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the organization's financial operations by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, payroll processing, reconciliations, and reporting activities. This position is responsible for assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting strong internal controls.

What You’ll Do
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, intercompany, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, supporting schedules, and reconciliation documentation.
- Monitor and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and financial analyses.
Financial Operations and Compliance
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as required.
- Experience with filing government remittances, including GST, payroll, and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support annual audits and tax preparation by providing required documentation and schedules.
Payroll Administration
- Process and reconcile bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees across multiple business units.
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation.
- Prepare and remit payroll deductions, benefits, WCB premiums, and other statutory requirements.
- Assist with year-end payroll reporting, including T4 preparation and payroll reconciliations.
Planning and Continuous Improvement
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and help implement efficient accounting procedures and controls.
- Collaborate with operational departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and resolve accounting-related issues.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting team members as required.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
What You Bring
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- 2 or more years of payroll administration experience, including statutory remittances and year-end reporting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting environments is considered an asset.
- Robust analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
