Art Director / Designer — 12-Month Maternity Leave Cover

Hybrid | Fixed-term contract (12 months)

We're looking for a Senior Art Director/Designer to join on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering a maternity leave with the possibility for a permanent position. You'll lead creative development across advertising campaigns from concept to final execution partnering closely with creatives, strategists, and account teams to produce bold, effective work across digital, social, OOH, and video.

Expectations

- Conceive and art direct integrated ad campaigns from big idea through final deliverables
- Present creative work to internal teams and clients with explicit, confident rationale
- Oversee design execution: typography, layout, color, photography/illustration direction
- Manage and mentor junior designers/art directors; give constructive creative feedback
- Collaborate with strategy and account teams to ensure work is on-brief and on-brand
- Direct photo/video shoots and manage external vendors (photographers, illustrators, production houses) as needed




- Maintain quality control across all creative outputs, ensuring brand consistency
- Step in quickly and confidently to existing projects and client relationships with minimal ramp-up time
- Work hybrid out of HQ in East Vancouver, BC.

Requirements

- 6+ years of experience in advertising/agency art direction, with a strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual and craft excellence
- Proven experience art directing integrated campaigns (not just single-channel design)
- Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); Figma
- Strong typography, layout, and visual storytelling skills
- Experience presenting to clients and defending creative decisions
- Proficient with generative AI tools (e.g., Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, Claude, Gemini) to augment workflow efficiency during pre and post-production phases
- Comfortable joining a fixed-term contract and hitting the ground running
