Join our Transportation &

- Infrastructure team in Dartmouth and help deliver transportation solutions that improve mobility, safety, and connectivity for communities across Nova Scotia. As a Transportation Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning and design of roadway, intersection, roundabout, active transportation, transit, and access infrastructure projects for municipal, provincial, and private sector clients while contributing to technically sound, practical, and constructible outcomes.

Your Impact

- Support and lead components of transportation design assignments, including roadway corridors, signalized intersections, roundabouts, active transportation facilities, transit priority elements, site access, parking, loading, and circulation improvements.

- Prepare and review functional, preliminary, and detailed design drawings, design briefs, technical memoranda, quantities, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.

- Apply transportation design standards, guidelines, and sound engineering judgement to develop practical, safe, and constructible design solutions.

- Complete and coordinate roadway design elements including alignments, grading, intersection layouts, roundabout geometry, pavement markings, signage, traffic control devices, and active transportation facilities.

- Develop and review signalized intersection and roundabout design elements, including multimodal accommodations, geometric layouts, design vehicle checks, pavement markings, and signage.

- Undertake site plan and access reviews, including loading, parking, circulation, sightline, and AutoTURN assessments, and provide technical recommendations.

- Coordinate with internal disciplines, clients, municipalities, road authorities, and project managers to support effective project delivery and provide technical direction to junior staff and designers.

- Support project management, proposal development, client communication, field reviews, and construction-phase activities as required.

The Skills That Set You Apart





- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a focus on transportation engineering, roadway design, or municipal infrastructure.

- Licensed as a Professional Engineer, or eligible for P.Eng. designation with Engineers Nova Scotia.

- 5 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, including experience supporting or leading transportation design assignments.

- Strong working knowledge of roadway design, signalized intersection design, roundabout design, active transportation, transit, site access, parking, loading, and circulation design principles.

- Demonstrated experience developing or reviewing transportation design elements including geometric layouts, multimodal accommodation, pavement markings, signage, and design vehicle considerations.

- Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AutoTURN, and related design tools to prepare, review, and coordinate transportation design deliverables.

- Working knowledge of TAC guidance, municipal standards, provincial requirements, accessibility considerations, and complete streets principles.

- Strong communication, project coordination, technical review, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to support multidisciplinary project delivery.

- YT: $89,800 – $118,900

MB &

- ON: $81,900 – $112,800

NB, NL, NS, PE &

- QC: $81,100 – $107,700
