IT Project Control Officer
Location: Toronto, ON
Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid
Contract Details
- Position Type: Contract
- Contract Duration: 3 months (with potential for extension)
- Pay Rate: C$35.00–C$40.00 / Hour (CAD)
- Shift / Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (Flexible)
Job Summary The role is responsible for supporting project financial governance , coordination, financial management (including GL reconciliation, invoice review, LE & actuals updates into tools, etc.), and reporting across multiple workstreams. This role is critical to ensuring effective project financial and resource management/allocation in a fast-paced, program-driven environment. The incumbent is expected to exercise independent judgment within defined procedures and be able to provide reporting to a senior audience for resourcing, budgeting, planning, project financials, compliance, tracking, and other services that are often requested. The role will also participate in resource allocation governance and resource and project financial tool (Eclipse) first line technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support through all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Maintain project financial forecasts, track progress, and escalate risks, issues, and action items as needed.
- Manage and reconcile project financials, including accruals, GL reconciliation, chargebacks, invoice tracing, forecasting, and actuals vs. plan variance analysis and commentary.
- Prepare financial and status reporting for leadership and executive steering committees.
- Monitor governance activities and support ongoing improvements to processes, tools, and reporting.
- Respond to changing priorities and effectively reprioritize work as required.
- Support the resource allocation governance process, onboard resources to the client's proprietary resource and project financial management tool (Eclipse), whilst also supporting users with issues.
Required Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in a Senior IT Project Coordinator, Project Control Officer, or similar role.
- Demonstrated experience managing program/project financials, including GL reconciliation and executive financial reporting.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to change.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and attention to detail.
- Ability to pull data from systems, manipulate and report on data.
- Synthesize data and prepare impactful summaries for a senior audience.
- Storytelling (presenting data-driven narratives to senior stakeholders).
Preferred Skills
- Experience at the client institution, including GL reconciliation and Eclipse tool experience.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Experience with Jira, Power BI, and Alteryx.
Required Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in project financial governance, resource management, or a similar Project Control Officer or Senior IT Project Coordinator capacity.

Key Notes
- The interview process consists of 2 rounds conducted virtually via MS Teams, each approximately 1 hour in duration.
- Given the critical nature of month-end activities and reporting timelines, the contractor is expected to remain available during these periods and avoid taking time off whenever possible.
