Job Classification: Journeyperson Electrician
Job Location: Service Centre
Reporting to the Electrical Foreman, the Journeyperson Electrician will be required to perform electrical maintenance duties to our facilities' heating, cooling and electrical systems and equipment as well as commercial renovation projects in educational settings. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Completion of daily and weekly workplans
- Prioritizing emergent work requests and integrate into a work plan
- Performing inspections, tests, maintenance, diagnoses, repairs, installation and alteration of building electrical systems. This also includes electrical work associated with HVAC systems
- Installation, repair and replacement of electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, ballasts and other electrical components as part of regular maintenance or renovation projects
- Providing advice and instruction to building maintenance staff on the proper operation, care and service of electrical systems and equipment
- Record keeping on preventative maintenance and repairs performed
- Reactive response to emergency situations
- Providing assistance in the determination of needs for the purchase, replacement, repair or removal of electrical systems and equipment within our facilities
- Duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
As per Board Policy; In addition, preference will be extended to applicants who possess the following qualifications:
- Commitment to ideals and principles of Catholic education
- Valid Saskatchewan Journeyperson Certificate/Red Seal Endorsed as an Electrician with a minimum of five years related experience in electrical and heating systems
- Valid Saskatchewan driver's license with a good driving record
- Experience working with staff in a unionized environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Effective communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Ability to estimate material requirements and costs
- Ability to read and interpret working drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical hook-ups and calibration for controls and protective devices
- Knowledge in refrigeration and boiler operation
- Knowledge in the operation of HVAC systems
- Knowledge of Single Phase and Three Phase Systems, 24V, 120V, 240V, 347V, 600V
- Controls and Instrumentation knowledge would be considered an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to protected working practices
- Knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations along with Health and Safety Regulations within their trade
- Advanced computer proficiency
- Basic record keeping techniques
This position will provide an exciting challenge for candidates who possess strong maintenance aptitude, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Terms of Employment:
- As per Collective Agreement:
- 8.0 hours/day
- To begin a.s.a.p.
- Salary range - $36.98 - $41.78 per hour
