Junior Bookkeeper

Location: Kelowna, BC

Department: Finance

Employment Type: Full‑Time, In‑Office

Salary Range: $60,000–$65,000 annually

About the Role

We are expanding our finance team and increasing head count as our organization continues to grow. The Junior Bookkeeper plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting multi‑entity reporting, and ensuring reliable operational workflows across several related operating and holding companies.

This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who is detail‑oriented, proactive, and eager to build strong foundational capability in financial operations. You will work fully in‑office with a supportive team committed to accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

- Generate accurate customer invoices and supplier reconciliations.
- Respond to internal and external financial inquiries within service timelines.
- Provide transparent, professional communication to suppliers, customers, and internal teams.

Conflict Resolution / Decision Quality

- Identify and resolve discrepancies in pricing, costs, statements, and receipts.
- Manage supplier or customer billing conflicts using documentation and process.
- Escalate issues with recommended solutions and maintain decision logs.

Business Acumen

- Prepare monthly financial reports for multiple entities.
- Maintain cash projection worksheets and support cash flow planning.
- Monitor costs and pricing for accuracy and efficiency.
- Support year‑end bookkeeping within 45 working days of fiscal year‑end.

Moral Conduct / Integrity

- File statutory reporting (including monthly HST) accurately and on time.
- Maintain audit‑ready documentation and adhere to internal controls.
- Handle CRA communications with professionalism and confidentiality.

Financial Systems & Process Mastery

- Enter product receipts and reconcile purchase orders.
- Apply customer payments and maintain AR/AP accuracy.
- Cross‑train on tax processes and support CRA documentation.




- Utilize accounting systems effectively and identify process improvements.

Operational Reliability & Workflow Management

- Complete weekly bank reconciliations on schedule.
- Monitor daily emails and ensure timely filing and follow‑up.
- Support phone coverage and administrative workflows.
- Maintain predictable, organized month‑end and year‑end cycles.

Additional Responsibilities

- Participate in required training sessions.
- Support colleagues by responding to emails and calls when needed.
- Perform other duties as required to meet operational needs.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Complete ad hoc projects as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

Education

- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Accounting certificate or interest in pursuing CPA is an asset.

Experience

- 2-5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (co‑op, internship, or part‑time experience welcome).
- Exposure to AP, AR, reconciliations, or financial reporting through school or work experience.
- Experience with accounting systems such as Intact, QuickBooks, or similar is an asset.

Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Foundational understanding of debits/credits, financial statements, and basic accounting principles.
- Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
- Comfortable working with high volumes of data and documentation.
