Junior Estimator (Building Materials)
Springhill Lumber Wholesale Ltd. is looking for a full time motivated Junior Estimator (Building Materials) to join our team and develop a rewarding career in the building materials industry. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Estimator. We are a well-established Manitoba-based supplier of lumber and building materials serving residential, commercial, and Ready to Move (RTM) construction projects.

As a Junior Estimator (Building Materials), you'll work on a variety of residential, commercial, and RTM construction projects while contributing to the success of builders and contractors across Manitoba.
Rate of Pay: Depending on Experience
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and construction plans.
- Prepare accurate material take-offs and cost estimates for residential, commercial, and RTM construction.
- Prepare quotations for contractors, builders, and homeowners.
- Collect all pertinent documents including property plans, technical drawings, and project specifications.
- Work closely with the sales team, customers, and suppliers to ensure accurate pricing.
- Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain pricing, product availability, and quotations.
- Process accepted quotations into orders and track revisions against the original take-off.
- Maintain current knowledge of lumber, building products, and pricing.
- Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- 1-3 years experience in construction estimating, material take-offs, or a related field (training provided)
- Post secondary education in Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Experience using PlanSwift or Bluebeam Revu.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of residential and commercial building envelope systems is an asset.
- Experience with Ready to Move (RTM) construction is an asset.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Reliable vehicle is required, as this is a non-bus route.
