About the role

HN Beauty is a growing home-based hair studio in Ottawa / Nepean offering professional braiding and styling services. We are hiring 2 skilled hair stylists to join our team on a commission basis. This is a flexible, on-call role — ideal for someone who is skilled, reliable, and ready to grow alongside a scaling business.

Commission Structure

Solo appointments

- Probation (first 15 appointments): you keep 60%, business keeps 40%
- After probation (appointment 6+): you keep 65%, business keeps 35%

Shared appointments (2 stylists on one client)

- Each stylist keeps 40%, business keeps 20%
- This split applies regardless of where you are in probation

Social media & content creation HN Beauty is actively growing its online presence. We welcome stylists who are comfortable on camera and enjoy creating content. This is not a requirement, but a strong asset.

- Comfort being filmed or filming short behind-the-scenes content




- Ability to initiate creative video ideas that showcase your work
- Willingness to support the brand's social media growth on Instagram and similar platforms
- Content created at the salon may be posted to HN Beauty's social accounts (with your consent)

What we're looking for

- 18 years of age or older
- Confident in cornrows, braids and catching on to new trends (e.g. koroba braids or silky braiding hair) — neat, clean, start to finish without supervision
- Quick - Able to complete 8 cornrows with extensions in 2–2.5 hours or less
- Quality - Delivers client-ready results — no corrections needed after completion
- Skilled, calm, and respectful in a home salon environment
- Reliable — once booked, appointments are a firm commitment
- Available during daytime hours (Mon–Sat); evening availability is a strong asset
- Comfortable being on-call — schedule is appointment-driven, not shift-based
- Access to a car is preferred (home salon location may not be easily accessible by transit)
- Comfortable with social media and content creation (asset, not required)

How to apply Step 1 — Portfolio first. Submit a portfolio of your braiding work (photos required) before an interview will be scheduled. Photos should show parting, braid consistency, and finished styles.

Step 2 — Video interview. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a video interview with the business owner.
