Busy architectural office is looking for a Junior Interior Designer to join our team.
We have a number of high tech/biotech private sector and institutional clients, and currently have projects for various health authorities and many different post-secondary institutions in Canada and the United States, as well as various projects for all levels of government.
40 hours per week – full-time, permanent. Note that this position is fully in-office (no remote work).
Responsibilities include:
- Independently creating full design concepts for projects based on Principal/Project Managers’ design vision
- Developing drawings, including floor plans, elevations, millworks drawings, 3D models, renderings, and detail drawings
- General research and product sourcing
- Researching new products and materials
- Creating material boards
- Preparation for client presentations by creating mood boards, floorplans, drawings and elevations
- Following up with vendors on lead times and quotes
- Organizing and overseeing samples library
- Typing and organizing meeting notes, project status reports, deliverables, etc.
- Maintaining organized client binders
- Reading architectural plans and producing scaled sketches, drawings and room layouts.
- Help prepare architectural specifications.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Degree in interior design, or equivalent work experience
- 1-2 years of commercial design experience
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Rendering skills (Sketchup & Lumion skills are a plus)
- Proficiency in AutoCad & Revit - ability to develop floorplans and elevations, millwork details
- Strong communication skills and efficiency when responding to emails
- Knowledge on how to reach out to vendors and suppliers.
Knowledge on industry brands is an asset.
- Experience selecting and specifying lighting, furnishings, hardware, floor/window coverings, materials and finishes.
- Experience with quotes, proposals, budgets, purchase orders and the purchasing process
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organized
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines and is eager to learn and grow with the firm
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, creative, open office environment.
- A positive, friendly, qualified attitude and a good sense of humor.
