Finance & Accounting Associate
Location: Downtown Toronto (hybrid)
Compensation: 65-75K CAD + equity
Overview
As a Finance & Accounting Associate, you will report to the Finance Manager and play a key role in supporting the day-to‑day operations of our finance function. This hands‑on, entry‑level role is ideal for someone looking to build a strong foundation in both accounting and financial operations within a fast‑growing company. You’ll handle responsibilities ranging from financial reporting to payroll support while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Support day‑to‑day accounting operations, including managing invoices, bills, journal entries, and payments in Xero, Float and Stripe.
- Lead the preparation of month‑end accrual schedules and entries.
- Create and maintain financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including departmental budget‑to‑actual updates.
- Assist with payroll processes, including running payroll cycles, calculating commissions and benefits, and processing reimbursements.
- Help maintain and improve finance and accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including sales, customer success and HR, to support business operations and financial initiatives.
- Contribute to ad hoc analysis and special projects as the company grows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in a finance, accounting, or related role.
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and comfortable working with data.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
- A proactive, “roll up your sleeves” mindset with a willingness to learn and take on recent challenges.
Bonus
- Pursuing or interested in pursuing a CPA designation.
- Familiarity with foundational SaaS business metrics (e.g., ARR, Churn).
- Exposure to contemporary financial tools (e.g., Stripe, Xero, Float).
