The YMCA of Central East Ontario operates out of three major Health, Fitness and Recreation facilities as well as approximately 20 community locations. Our team consists of more than 350 staff members and over 150 volunteers. Wage: $29.02 hourly at approximately 25 hours a week. Vacancy: This role is for an existing vacancy. (1)
Responsibilities:
- Consistently demonstrate and reinforce the values of caring, honesty, inclusiveness, respect, responsibility, inclusiveness and kindness
- Provide consistent quality client service
- Initiate and maintain positive working relationships with school personnel, families and YMCA staff
- Guide and support assisting staff in the Before and After School Program
- Communicate with Child Care Supervisor on a regular basis
- Maintain accurate documentation of attendance and emergency information on each child
- Comply with all emergency procedures appropriate to the site
- Maintain equipment and supplies; be respectful of school property
- Consistently demonstrate positive interaction with all children
- Consistently demonstrate positive discipline by teaching and redirecting
- Positively I.D. before releasing child
- Respond to, and escalate as needed, client concerns in a positive and timely manner and keep Kids Club Coordinators informed
- Maintain a safe and hazard free environment
- Plan and deliver a program that offers quality, age-appropriate care that meets and/or exceeds the regulations outlined by the Ministry of Education
- Complete incident and accident reports of all injuries
- Other duties as assigned by the Child Care Supervisor
Education/Training/Qualifications:
- RECE certification or Child Youth Worker/Recreation Diploma
- Strong interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a licensed child care setting
Working Conditions:
- Variable hours required – 25 hours per week
- Multiple time and task pressures
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Requirement of Standard First Aid and CPR
- Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check
- Up to date Immunizations
