Who we are

Schafer Industries is a small, growing excavation and earthworks company in Kelowna. We work on residential, multi-family, utility, and light commercial projects across the Okanagan and Interior, digging foundations, trenching utilities, grading sites, handling drainage, and moving dirt. We're a small team, so your work is visible and it matters. We take pride in doing the job right, not just getting it done.

What this role is about

This is a labour role first, with a path to becoming an equipment operator over time. You'll start on the ground learning how we work, and as you prove yourself, you'll get more time on the machines and we'll teach you to run them properly.

You don't need years behind the controls. We're after someone who wants to learn the trade from the ground up, works hard, and wants to build something long term with us.

A typical day might include:

- Excavation, trenching, grading, site prep, and cleanup
- Working with the crew and learning how each job comes together
- Helping with layout,string lines, lasers, grades, and elevations
- Hands-on time on equipment as you develop: minis, mid-size and full-size excavators, skid steers, dozers, and compactors
- Keeping the site organized and the next step ready to go
- Working directly with the owner to plan and run each job

As you gain experience, you'll take on more machine time and more responsibility.
