At Conayt Friendship Society, is looking for a Language and Culture Coordinator to help bring people together through cultural teachings, language programming, community events, and traditional knowledge sharing. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with Elders, youth, families, and community members while helping preserve Indigenous culture for future generations.

What You’ll Do Cultural & Language Program
- Coordinate language and cultural programs, workshops, and events
- Support Indigenous language revitalisation initiatives
- Organize cultural gatherings, celebrations, and learning opportunities
- Work alongside Elders and Knowledge Keepers to incorporate traditional teachings into programming
Community Connections
- Build relationships with community members and partner organizations
- Encourage participation in cultural and language activities
- Support intergenerational learning between Elders, youth, and families
- Represent Conayt at community events and meetings
Program Administration
- Maintain attendance records and program statistics
- Assist with reports and funding requirements
- Help monitor program budgets and resources
- Evaluate programs and identify opportunities for growth
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Certificate in Indigenous Studies, Education, Cultural Studies, Community Development, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and communities
- Indigenous language proficiency
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Successful Criminal Record Check
- Proof of education and certifications (if selected for interview)
- Minimum of three (3) professional references
Preferred Assets
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- First Aid Certification
- Robust communication and organizational skills
- Experience coordinating programs, activities, or events
