You Are
Leads team and independently designs, develops, tests, implements, documents, and supports business intelligence systems, including semantic layers, cubes/ extracts, scheduling, as well as analytic, visualization, and reporting technologies and processes.
The Opportunity
- Leads small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements, and develops detailed work plans
- Works closely with business and IT stakeholders to optimize reporting information by defining business requirements and populating the business intelligence structures
- Designs, develops, and maintains the business intelligence technologies and architectures
- Performs business intelligence design and testing, including data design, business intelligence architecture, metadata, and repository creation
- Creates and supports the process to pull the information from source data warehouse or data store and place it into the cubes/ extracts
- May supervise or manage four or fewer employees, and responsible for team's performance; coaches and mentors team members
- Creates business intelligence schematics and layouts, and develops capacity planning
- Seeks continuous business intelligence performance improvement and ensures security of information
- Creates and implements effective metrics and monitoring processes
- Recommends improvements and applies standards, processes, and procedures for business intelligence systems

What You Need
- Master’s degree and/or LOMA certification
- Experience Required:
- 8+ years business intelligence or relevant experience
- Experience in Kimball dimensional modeling
- 8+ years experience with semantic layers, cubes/ extracts, and scheduling technologies, as well as analytic, visualization, and reporting technologies
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies
- 4+ years of Data Analysis experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead small teams
- Advanced ability to solve complex problems, drawing upon creativity, experience, and multiple sources of information
- Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to build consensus
- Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex or difficult information
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Preferred:
- Insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge
- Technical Requirements:
- Power BI semantic model design, dimensional modeling, and star schema architecture
- Strong DAX, Power Query (M), and Power BI development experience
- Snowflake SQL, query tuning, and performance optimization
- Experience with enterprise Power BI deployments, gateways, CI/CD, and governance
- Row-level security, security modeling, and Power BI governance best practices
- Experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into scalable reporting solutions
- Ability to mentor developers, establish standards, and provide architectural guidance
- Experience migrating SSRS reports to Power BI, including report rationalization, redesign, and semantic model development
- Experience migrating SSAS Tabular models to Power BI semantic models
- Experience converting Excel Pivot reports connected to SSAS/Tabular models into Power BI solutions
- Experience designing abstraction layers, reporting views, data products, and semantic layer strategies
- Experience leading large-scale reporting modernization and migration initiatives similar to EFD
- Ability to define migration patterns, governance processes, deployment strategies, automation opportunities, and target-state reporting architecture
- Ability to work with business stakeholders and technical teams to drive reporting transformation efforts end-to-end
- Nice-to-have skills:
- Microsoft Fabric experience
- Python and automation
- Power BI administration and capacity management
- Experience with metadata-driven reporting frameworks and report migration tooling
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below. Role Location: Remote - Canada
Compensation Range: $104,000-$130,000
Advantages
Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They and their dependents residing in Canada are eligible for Supplemental Healthcare coverage, as well as Company-paid Employee Only basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.
Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year). They and their dependents residing in Canada are eligible for Supplemental Healthcare coverage, as well as Company-paid Employee Only basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.
Part-time regular and temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).
All Canadian employees who work in a province, territory or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
