Job Summary
Bridgeway Law is a law firm with sole practitioner in Edmonton practicing primarily in real estate, corporate law, wills and estates, civil litigation, and related legal services. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant and Receptionist to join our legal team. The candidate will assist attorney in real estate transactions including paperwork preparation, meeting bank requirements and reporting to client. This role requires strong organizational skills, ownership mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The Legal
Clerk will play a crucial role in supporting the overall efficiency of our legal operations.
Responsibilities
- Real estate legal documents and preparation for financial institutions and other third parties.
- Estates planning and corporate law documents preparation.
- Manage calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings with clients, lawyers, and other parties.
- Maintain and organize client files, both physical and digital, in accordance with the firm's policies and procedures.
- File and register documents with the Courts, Land Titles Office, Corporate Registry, and other government agencies as required.
- Conduct bank runs, and occasionally other business-related errands as required. A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle are required. The Employer will reimburse or cover any increase in the Employee's insurance premium resulting from authorized business use of the Employee's vehicle, in accordance with the employment agreement.
- Serve as a professional point of contact for clients and respond to routine inquiries in a timely and courteous manner.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and data entry.
- Maintain office organization and perform general office cleaning once per week,
including keeping common areas and workspaces clean and presentable.
- Assist with general office administration and other tasks necessary for the efficient operation of the firm.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the responsible lawyer(s) from time to time.
Qualification and Skills The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or in a similar administrative role; experience in a law firm is an asset, but not a must. Training will be provided.
- Be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting and able to prioritize competing demands.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe.
- Be comfortable learning and using legal practice management, document management, and accounting software.
- Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and respect for client confidentiality.
- Be dependable, punctual, and willing to take initiative.
- Have a valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for authorized business-related errands.
Position Details
- Position: Legal Assistant and Receptionist
- Employment Type: Part-Time
- Location: West Edmonton, Alberta
- Hours: 15-25 hours a week, with potential to increase to full-time as the firm's needs grow
- Work Environment: Fast-paced, professional, and multitasking-oriented

Pay: $1,260.00-$2,520.00 per month
