Be part of the Alberta Law Reform Institute as a Legal Counsel in Edmonton, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement. Engage in complex legal research and policy analysis to benefit the legal framework for Albertans.
This role, based at the University of Alberta’s North Campus, demands a skilled adept in legal research, analysis, and writing. The position focuses on conducting evaluations of legal issues and advising the ALRI Board on pertinent recommendations that will enhance access to justice. You will work collaboratively both individually and within a team to ensure impactful legal solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and policy development
- Communicate with legal professionals and the public
- Draft project reports with findings and recommendations
- Manage projects to advance legal reform initiatives
- Support outreach projects within the legal community
Requirements:
- LL.B or JD degree required, with a relevant undergraduate degree
- Demonstrated expertise in legal research and writing
- Familiarity with Alberta's law and legislative processes
- Membership in the Law Society of Alberta or equivalent
- Experience in project management and problem solving
