About the Role

Maintain and repair all of the equipment in the department.

Perform service work on other department vehicles and equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Duties

- Carry out mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and any other repairs required to ensure the efficient operation of all equipment
- Carry out and give supervision to the equipment operators concerning regular servicing and maintenance
- When required, attend to stranded equipment, to carry out field repairs
- Assist in other duties as required within the garage, including welding, fabricating, etc.
- Perform safety checks of County vehicles on a regular basis
- Orders parts as required to maintain vehicle maintenance

- Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
- Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Formal Education

- Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or a combination of education and experience required to perform the duties of the position
- Current valid Province of Ontario Driver's license minimum class DZ
- 310T Truck and Coach Technician
- 310S Automotive Service Technician

Experience

- Prior experience as a licensed mechanic performing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, welding and fabrication repairs of a variety of vehicles and equipment A valid Ontario driver’s license and use of a vehicle.
