About the Opportunity

U1 Logistics is looking to add a Logistics Freight Coordinator Trainee to our growing team in Mississauga.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or build a long-term career in the freight forwarding and logistics industry. Previous freight forwarding experience is not required, we are willing to train the right individual who is dependable, organized, eager to learn, and motivated to grow.

This position may be particularly well suited to someone who has recently graduated from a logistics or transportation program and is looking to fast-track their practical, hands-on knowledge and training in the industry. You will have the opportunity to apply what you have learned in a real-world environment while developing valuable operational experience, with potential for long-term growth and advancement within the company.

Working closely with the Operations Manager and Operations team, you will learn how to coordinate freight shipments, manage documentation, communicate with customers and service providers, and support the day-to-day operations of our logistics business.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with the coordination of daily freight import and export shipments.
- Learn and perform freight forwarding and logistics processes.
- Prepare and process shipment documentation accurately.
- Assist with import and export documentation and declarations.
- Communicate with customers, carriers, agents, and internal departments regarding shipments.
- Provide customers with shipment updates and respond to inquiries in a professional manner.
- Coordinate shipments and send pre-alerts as required.
- Enter and maintain accurate shipment information in our operating system.
- Maintain organized and accurate filing systems.
- Assist with billing and ensure shipment information is complete and accurate.




- Support the Operations and Sales teams as required.
- Learn industry regulations, procedures, and best practices.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

What We're Looking For Previous experience in freight forwarding is not required, full training will be provided to the right candidate.

We are looking for someone who:

- Has a strong willingness to learn and develop a career in logistics.
- Is a recent graduate or graduate of a logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related program who wants to gain practical industry experience.
- Is interested in learning the freight forwarding industry and growing with the company.
- Is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to develop their skills.
- Has strong communication and customer service skills.
- Is dependable, motivated, and willing to take initiative.
- Can work both independently and as part of a team.
- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Has basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Previous experience in logistics, transportation, customer service, administration, or a related field is considered an asset, but is not required.
