Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Long Haul Oversize/Overweight Truck Operator to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting large, heavy, and oversize freight across long distances, ensuring timely delivery while adhering to all safety regulations and industry standards. Your expertise in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and automotive repair will be essential in maintaining efficient operations and addressing any mechanical issues that arise during transit.

Responsibilities

- Operate heavy-duty trucks designed for oversize and overweight freight across long-distance routes, ensuring compliance with federal and state transportation laws.
- Secure and inspect loads meticulously to prevent shifting or damage during transit, utilizing appropriate tie-downs and safety equipment.
- Navigate complex routes using GPS and maps, adjusting plans as needed for road conditions, permits, or restrictions related to oversized loads.
- Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle before and after trips, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and other critical systems; perform basic automotive repairs when necessary.




- Utilize forklifts or other heavy equipment to load and unload freight safely at various locations.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, route details, load information, and inspection reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and law enforcement agencies regarding delivery schedules or any incidents encountered on the road.

Experience

- Proven experience operating commercial trucks for long-haul transportation of oversize or overweight freight.
- Demonstrated proficiency in forklift operation and heavy equipment handling.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and securement techniques for large loads.
- Familiarity with automotive repair basics to troubleshoot mechanical issues during transit.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for oversized loads; clean driving record preferred.
- Prior experience navigating routes that require special permits or escorts for oversized shipments is highly desirable.
